Verse of the Day
"So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations." - Psalms 79:13

Today's Theological Term
"Baptism - Derived from the Greek word "baptizo" which means to immerse, dip, or plunge.  The first act of obedience after conversion, this immersion in water symbolizes; 1) the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, 2) the believer's death to sin and his resurrection to newness of life, 3) the forgiveness of sin, 4) the believer's resurrection from the dead at the return of Christ, 5) the believer's identification with the local church and its body of belief.  Baptism is not a sacrament; it conveys no grace to save the soul or wash away sin.  Its meaning is symbolical only."*
